My original dealings with Mark were when I had serious health problems, and I found him entirely professional, while at the same time able to adjust the house selling process to my circumstances. I thought so well of him at that time, that a couple of years later, when I finally decided to sell my home, I contacted him directly to ask whether he was still in the real estate business, and if so, whether he would be able to sell my house for me.
Happily he was and he could.
Mark then made the effort of coming to me, up the Southern Highlands, to discuss the sale, various advertising strategies etc. On inspecting the house, which he hadn’t seen for a few years, Mark gave me predictions as to probable price, depending on various scenarios. I might add here that some of his advice was against his own personal interest. I followed his advice, including using a professional to use display furniture to show the home at its best advantage. I also followed his advice with respect to having an auction. I found him balanced, ethical and appropriate in all our dealings – including when he advised me against doing something! He did tend to be right.
When the auction occurred, I was not on site. I was on the phone listening and giving instructions as required. I was very impressed at the way he handled the bidding and consulted with me during the process.
The upshot of all this was that the house ended up being sold for about 10 – 15% more than it would have, had I not relied on Mark’s advice and his judgement. If I ever plan to move back to Canberra or buy investment property in Canberra, Mark will be the one whom I contact. I hope Mark lets me know if he ever relocates.
All in all, my experience of selling my house was less stressful than most people’s. While issues did arise here and there, I could trust Mark’s advice and judgement to be well founded and trustworthy. I hope he continues to do well.”

It went on the market in May and despite advertising failed to attract any potential buyers. The relationship between us and the agents from that company started to disintegrate about 4 weeks later, after constant requests by them for us to lower the price, move the pot plants, tidy up the garden etc.
We changed agents after the property had been on the market for nearly five months. We would particularly like to commend the work done on our behalf by Mark McCann. Because we were no longer residing in Canberra Mark undertook tasks which were well outside the scope of what would normally be expected of a real estate agent.
Even before we had signed the contract with Mark to sell the house he was helping us by collecting keys from the Embassy of the United States of America so that we could have trades people undertake work needed to ensure the house was up to a suitable standard to put on the market. He supervised carpet re-laying and cleaning, general household and garden maintenance, plus other tasks that we were unable to supervise.
Once the contract was signed with Mark he was able to step straight into marketing the property because he had supervised the pre-sale preparations.
Mark’s suggestion that we furnish the house for the sales period, although expensive in the short term, certainly helped prospective purchasers see the potential of what was our much-loved family home.
We were very impressed with Marks integrity. He was completely honest with us from day one about what sales price he thought was achievable for our property and he went about securing bidders for the auction who he felt were within this market range.

Russ WallsWe would like to thank Mark McCann for his excellent service pertaining to the recent sale of our house in Bonython.
We obtained Mark’s details from a sign on a townhouse similar to ours in November last year. We were intending to sell our house in February/March this year and arranged an appointment with Mark in November to discuss our options.
From our first meeting with Mark it was obvious to us that he had an in-depth knowledge of the Tuggeranong housing market, the potential value of our house and where it would fit into that market. Mark provided us with a number of options and strategies ranging from normal sale to auction. He recommended that we list our house for sale but not formally go on the market until January. Our circumstances at that time meant we did not want to settle until late March or early April.
We had an appraisal with another agent prior our meeting with Mark. That other agent didn’t show any genuine interest and his value assessment was in our opinion entirely unreachable. Mark’s assessment was an accurate of the market conditions at the time.
As a result of the auction of the other property Mark introduced a buyer who was interested in that property but did not bid at the auction. That couple were the eventual buyers of our house. This meant that we didn’t have to go through the advertising and exhibition process.
Throughout our dealings with Mark we found him to be an affable man who knew what he was doing. We were wary of real estate agents as a result of a bad experience during the sale of our previous house. Mark was exactly the opposite of our last agent. He communicated with us the entire way through the process and provided very professional and valuable advice when our sale reached the “offer” stage. He achieved an equal record price for a townhouse in Bonython, the record being set by our neighbour’s auction mentioned above.
